Gyro Cabin designs

A while ago interesting thought came across my mind about using Gyro principle for travellers Cabin. All happens on four leg creature back. No matter what angle creature is climbing into a cliff for example, cabin stays vertical. Similar principles are used also in yachts for captain seats.

Creature Designs

I had some time today to sketch creatures, so here is the result. I gave myself a task and combined two existing animals: moose and turtle. Some of designs can be far away from looking either of these animals or reptiles, but it was nice reference and specifications to follow.

"IKI" Christmas candy package characters

So Christmas is very close and it is time to buy some sweet candies. I had a lot of fun creating characters for candy package which was designed as a pattern for all visible surface. Lithuanian agency AllCaps was very happy to have my illustrations which helped to make candy box look fun and appealing.

Here is couple final package design photos from different angles:

Wanna be a Concept Artist?

I recently found a very nice and rare video about career as a concept artist. For those who have blurry picture what these guys do out there with pencils in they're hands, Ted Kim talks about all kind of different aspects and explains a lot in simple words. Really worth watching and getting to know interesting stuff.

Down bellow you will find all three parts of an interview.

Leading action body parts

Hi everyone, this time I decided to practice action lines and leading body parts in these action. As many artist say, the part of the body which leads the action will always define the very quality of the same action. So in this case i was paying more attention to understanding what figure does and which part of the body leads particular action. Some figures you see here are made up, but most of them are live action poses performed by my collegues during the day.

Page filled with poses.

Here I indicated the main curve which goes through the body of the figure.

Here I left the curve and also indicated main body part which leads the action.

It is really fun exercise. Recommend to try for everyone.

GhostVFX: Neuro science visuals

Live WebCam painting: Iceland, Jökulsárlón

Today I have decided to try something new. Some time ago i came across an idea to try to paint live while being at the same time in the other part of the world. One of the ways is to use webcams which shows live view with all present weather conditions and movement which goes at exact time down there in the location. Sure, there can be one disappointment for painter when camera is set in the specific way, and that's already enforced cropping of landscape or so. But I suggest not to be disappointing and actually there are some pretty well set cameras like the the Jökulsárlón location, which I painted today. Unexpectedly by painting this little picture i found out that it brings this amazing thrill feelings which happens when you are in the real plain air. Clouds moves, everything moves, wiggles... that's exciting!

So here is the result.

Location: Jökulsárlón, Iceland.
Time: 2:20 pm - 2:54 ( Danish time )
Actual painting location: Office in Copenhagen, Denmark.

My Painting. The view will be different when you will check it in the webcam link above, but that's the beauty of it.
